Sunday, June 8

Depart the United States on individual flights for Prague.

 

Monday, June 9 - Prague

Welcome to Prague. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for an exquisite welcome dinner at the hotel.

 

Tuesday, June 10 - Prague

Breakfast and morning lectures. Visit the iconic Prague Castle, one of the largest and most famous castles in the world. Explore the St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, and the Golden Lane. In the afternoon, we will visit the Jewish Quarter, Old Town Square, home to the famous 15th century Astronomical Clock. In the evening, join us for a cocktail reception with canapés at the hotel. 

 

Wednesday, June 11 - Prague

Breakfast and excursion to Terezin (Theresienstadt) in the morning. Founded on 22 September 1784 on the orders of the Habsburg monarch Joseph II, it was named Theresienstadt, after his mother, Maria Theresa. During World War II, the fortress town, established by the SS, served as a waystation to the concentration camps.

Thursday, June 12 - Prague to Vienna

Breakfast and depart for Vienna, "The City of Music." With its rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking beauty, Vienna offers an unforgettable experience. Visit Carnuntum, which first occurs in history during the reign of Emperor Augustus, when Tiberius made it his base of operations as a Roman fort (castrum) in the campaigns against Maroboduus. In the evening, join us for dinner at one of Vienna’s authentic restaurants to sample traditional Austrian cuisine, such as Wiener Schnitzel, Tafelspitz, or Sachertorte. Raise a glass of local Austrian wine or beer to toast your memorable days in Vienna.

 

Friday, June 13 - Vienna

Breakfast and morning lectures. Discover the imperial history and cultural heritage of St. Stephen’s Cathedral on a private tour of Vienna’s historic district. St. Stephen's Cathedral is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienna. The current Romanesque and Gothic form of the cathedral, seen today in the Stephansplatz, was largely initiated by Duke Rudolf IV (1339–1365) and stands on the ruins of two earlier churches. In the afternoon, visit the iconic Schoenbrunn Palace with a guided tour to learn about its rich history, opulent rooms, and beautiful gardens. This Baroque masterpiece was once the summer residence of the Habsburg monarchs and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

​Saturday, June 14 - Vienna

Breakfast and a visit to the Museums Quartier, one of the largest cultural complexes in the world including the Habsburg Treasury Museum. In the evening, enjoy a beautiful concert and dinner in the heart of Vienna with curated melodies by the "Waltz King" Johann Strauss II as well as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Sunday, June 15 - Vienna

Breakfast and an excursion on the Danube River to Melk. This Benedictine monastery is one of the most important cultural and historical sites in Austria, with its impressive Baroque architecture and stunning views of the Danube River.

Monday, June 16 - Vienna to Budapest

Breakfast and morning lectures. Depart Vienna for Budapest. The previously separate towns of Buda, and Pest were officially unified in 1873 and given the new name Budapest.

 

Tuesday, June 17 - Budapest

Breakfast and morning lectures. Visit the beautiful Buda Castle District. A local guide will take you through the cobblestone streets to see UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Royal Palace, Sandor Palace, and the Fisherman’s Bastion. Visit the Parliament Building, one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Take a guided tour of this impressive building to learn about its history and architecture. Make our way to St. Stephen's Basilica, a historic cathedral with a magnificent dome and exquisite interior. Climb to the top to enjoy breath-taking panoramic views of the city.

 

Wednesday, June 18 - Budapest

Breakfast and a morning sightseeing cruise on the Danube River to view the landmarks and highlights of Budapest from a beautiful perspective. Free afternoon or optional visit to the Széchenyi Bath, the largest thermal spring bath complex in Budapest and throughout Europe, the height of European elegance. Our trip concludes with a traditional Hungarian dinner and show. Enjoy authentic folk music and Hungarian folk dances in traditional costumes.

Thursday, June 19

Private transfers to the airport for individual flights back to the United States.
